| Judy Stock has been a professional musician for over thirty years. Born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin Judy lived in New Orleans for thirteen years and now makes her home in Ithaca, New York. Her performances take her all over the United States! Judy's first instrument was the clarinet and after graduating from high school she learned the guitar. She now plays over twenty different musical instruments and in her performances with children she shares these instruments along with her love of reading. Judy is committed to keeping folk music and folk instruments "alive" in the hearts and minds of children everywhere. Over the years Judy has performed at libraries, festivals, schools, art centers, preschool centers, churches and at many public and private events throughout the United States. Working full-time as a professional musician Judy performs hundreds of programs every year. Judy has been a regular performer at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for over ten years. While living in New Orleans she was a folk music "educator" for the Jefferson Parish special education preschool program for ten years. In 1998 a video of her playing the nose whistle and spoons was chosen to appear on "Oprah". She has recorded two CDs and a DVD which are well loved by children and adults. While living in Sheboygan, Wisconsin Judy opened a coffeehouse, "Wonderful World" with her partner Leigh Ann. The coffeehouse featured live music, music for children and regular open mic nights. After the coffeehouse closed in 2006 Judy was awarded the "Award of Excellence" by the WAPC Video Festival in Madison, WI for her television show "Miss Judy Presents: Music and Motion. This cable television show for preschoolers was produced and directed by Judy. Judy's love of folk music carries over to adult audiences when she performs concerts at libraries, churches, coffeehouses and art centers. Her beautiful voice is highlighted as she shares the songs she has written along with her favorite folk songs. Judy has worked with many professional and non-profit agencies throughout the years. Head Start, Early Head Start, Very Special Arts of Wisconsin and Louisiana, Young Audiences of New Orleans and Dallas, Big Thought and Every Child Ready to Read are just some of the organizations Judy has been able to work with throughout the years. |
